Job Summary Core member of tooling engineering team in AP, and is responsible for planning, costing, developing, and implementing new plastic mold tooling and processes. Under general direction of the functional manager, independently solves problems and implements solutions for new plastic injection mold tooling and molding process. Work closely with Fabrication team on the replacement tooling projectsKey Responsibilities (At Least 6 major responsibilities need to be listed out)- Driving supplier and internal process improvements in areas of manufacturing technology and tooling performance to improve cost, quality, and delivery.- Provide technical assistance involving suppliers consolidation, localization, and risk mitigation efforts.- Resolving part design and manufacturability issues that cause quality defects- Driving standardization of part designs, materials, and process- Driving compliance to ensure RA AP plants, BU and external suppliers possess adequate technical capabilities, knowledge, and resources through technical assessments- Actively managing RA plants in AP owned tooling at suppliers by proactive capital planning through data collection and a process for evaluation, justification and validation of capital spend- Road mapping future requirements for part designs, tooling, and processingKEY COMPETENCY REQUIREMENTSJob related competenciesFunctional:- Work with Project Manager or fabrication team on project schedule deliverables, spec requirements and financial costing- Manage and procure NPI proto-type/tool builds for NPI projects to meet project milestones- Work with other engineering functions / resources to qualify part for manufacturability- Develop part & system cost estimates, proposals; identify alternatives and their tradeoffs- Define, plan, and implement manufacturing requirements for injection molded parts- Demonstrated experience with MS-Office and CAD software applications; Pro/ENGINEER, preferred- Demonstrated advance knowledge of tooling technology, applications and process- Demonstrated experience in project management for planning, assessing, and managing project resourcesInterpersonal:- Responsible to support processes, workloads, and structure of organization required- Responsible for initiation, on-going communication and outcome of project deliverables of sub functions and external suppliers - High degree of cross functional collaboration with internal and external resources and partners to the department- Moderate interaction across management levelsLeadership:- Desired job outcomes are not highly predictable; tasks involve a fair degree of ambiguity- May develop/implement plans having high degree of risk to be communicated back to fabrication team in the states- Conducts tasks in accordance with applicable Health, Safety, Quality, and Environmental Regulations (State/Federal Laws, ISO9001, ISO14000, etc.) as well as Rockwell Automation policies and proceduresBusiness:- May be involved in the development of manufacturing strategies that support larger business initiatives- Ensures thorough familiarity with Policies and Procedures Relating to Standards of Business Conduct, and maintains full compliance with the letter and spirit of such policies and proceduresOther / Miscellaneous:- Work schedule likely to vary with project activity, business initiativesMinimal to moderate domestic & international travel requirementsEDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS / WORK EXPERIENCE(Education, qualifications and experience requirements an employee must have)- B.S. in Mechanical, molding fabrication or equivalent experience.- Minimum 8 years’ experience in tooling fabrication area, it is preferable of tooling (plastic molding process) design experience.- Skilled at Auto-CAD and Pro-E- Skilled at Mold flow analysis is preferred
